Eligibility

This is the only filter in this process. It comes from the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, and we have no discretion over it.

Consent to stand

The term. October 27 is the first election of directors Baby Ghosts has held. Under the by-law, at a first election one-third of directors are elected for three years, one-third for two years and one-third for one year. Which of those you would hold is decided at the meeting, and the resolution electing you will name it. How the terms are assigned will be set out in the notice sent to members on October 1.

The consent. Under the Act, a person elected while absent from the meeting is deemed not to have been elected unless they consent in writing, either before the election or within ten days after it. We collect it here so that your election stands whether or not you can attend.

About you

Everything in this section goes to members exactly as you write it. Word limits are firm so that every candidate gets the same space.

Areas of board work

Most of the board's ongoing work falls into recurring areas: committees, officer roles, and oversight duties. The next two questions share one list of those areas, listed alphabetically and not in priority order.

For context: the election is October 27, 2026 at 2:00pm Eastern. The new board's first meeting is November 4, 2026 at 1:00pm Eastern, where officers are appointed. Regular board meetings after that are four to six a year, plus the annual meeting. Expect 5 to 10 hours a month in total.

Before you submit

Some of a director's legal responsibilities are personal, not organizational. See the Role Description & Responsibilities.
